As NIKE’s first Chief Talent Officer, Mike developed NIKE’s enterprise-wide Talent Management Strategy, built capability to plan succession and prepare the next generation of leaders for NIKE’s aggressive growth agenda.
Mike is an experienced Sr. HR Business Partner and coach, advising several global leaders to develop and execute their people strategies. His global experience includes VP HR for NIKE’s Geographies & Global Sales, where he assembled, developed and led global HR teams in six Geographies and 37 Territories around the world. He was also the HR leader responsible to oversee and support NIKE's five subsidiary businesses.
Mike was responsible to advance NIKE's Team & Talent (HR) Strategy. He developed a blueprint and led several large scale organization change initiatives - including organization assessment and design, talent planning, implementation and change leadership.
As an executive coach, Mike is certified in several assessment and executive coaching tools. He uses the Hogan Leadership Personality Assessment, 360 feedback, stakeholder interviews and the Leadership Pipeline Model to assess and coach executives and successor candidates.
Mike is also an expert in team effectiveness - having assembled and led several diverse, high performing, global teams. He uses the Drexler Sibbet Team Performance Model and other tools as a framework to help teams assess their effectiveness and tackle the important issues that get in their way of high performance.
Mike has a Bachelor's degree in Human Resource Management from Portland State University and a Master's degree in Adult Learning / Training & Development from Oregon State University.
